Roadmap
Where the product actually is.
Drum Chopper talks to machines that are thirty years old and no two of which are quite alike, so this page separates what is finished from what is still being proved against real hardware.
- Shipped
Transient detection and chopping
Background analysis with editable thresholds, presets and snap-to-grid, with the raw detections preserved so nothing is lost when you retune.
- Shipped
Velocity layers and alternate chops
Up to four alternate chops per pad with note and velocity triggering, and independent envelopes and mappings.
- Shipped
Export to modern formats
Akai S1000–S6000, Ensoniq, Roland, MPC, Ableton, Bitwig, SFZ, DecentSampler and EXS24.
- In validation
Hardware bridge over SCSI
PiSCSI, Akai Mesa and ASR-10 workflows are being validated against physical machines. This is the part we are least willing to guess about, so it stays in validation until the hardware says otherwise.
- Building
Direct USB connection to the Pi
Removing the network step so the Pi can be driven over a single USB cable, for people who would rather not put a sampler on their network at all.
- Planned
Published hardware compatibility list
What works with which machine, which ROM revision and which SCSI setup — built from what owners report, because no test bench covers thirty years of hardware.
